SLEEPING through SPACE...

Sleeping is one of the best work human can do extremely well ,so prepare yourself to sleep take your teddy and night story book as we are going to sleep all the way to space.
Since the movie PASSENGER has released the idea of sleeping pod seems to be real very soon.
Space travel takes a very long time and eating or hanging or waiting for snacks might not be the way...For killing time on the way to the red planet. It means being  awake for that long we need to eat, drink and doing all those normal human thing which means bringing a lot of supplies along with us which is not a practical solutions. So here’s the crazy idea why don’t we sleep all the way to the space. So let’s start this weird snoozing way of travelling without the use of fancy chamber or lullaby’s.

Typically we sleep for 8 hrs per night or that could vary but various researches in which two volunteer put the sleep duration to the test. They were kept in isolation underground for months in absence of daylight their sleep cycle got really crazy, one of them slept for 30hrs straight and when he woke up he felt like he just took a short nap. So more accurate studied showed that if we are isolated from light and modern day amenities or marks of time, we can sleep for really long duration.
All this could be great techniques for hacking our sleeps. But to be practical we need more than just a dark room. And luckily for future Mark Watney’s out there, there are a lot of scientists figuring this out.

How it will be done?

A research company named Space Works Enterprise, they are working with the NASA to create a pod which would keep astronaut sleeping for two weeks at a time or may be longer. Well that’s not a long time for space travel  but it is panned as an alternate sleep cycle or stacking cycle in artificial gravity  where astronauts will sleep for two weeks and next two day or so they will perform their duties, exercise, eat to remain healthy, plus taking a huge supply of food and facilities will be reduced which will be a major benefits in going outer space. Doctors are already using similar technology to save brain cells, so we can say it has a potential future.
Wooooo hold your imagination; don’t get too excited, deep interstellar travel will be still a difficult task as we still haven’t figured out how to slow down ageing. So going to Proxima Centurai B is still long way to go. What is Proxima Centurai B(nearest habitable planet to our solar system) is for the next blog till then..See u in next blog my intergalactic adventurers.

  1. Interesting concept !! This will allow to reach planets in a relax way. Moreover, one will not realise the long distance he has travelled. Write more articles, good going.
