WARP DRIVE...travelling faster than light..

We all know that nothing can travel faster than light; it is the universal speed limit in space. The 299 792 458 m / s constant is the most famous constant in known universe.  In his blog we will see how fast we have to go to reach distant star systems, galaxies, etc.

The fastest man made machine (voyager 1) is travelling at 62,140 km/h which is very slow as compared to universal grand scale. It will take approx 4 light years just to reach our nearest star system Alpha Centauri . So going galactic is beyond our imagination.
Matter of fact is that going at the speed of light won’t make us reach places in universal scale light speed is also slow as compared to the ever expanding universe.

Let me introduce you to warp drive. The ability to manipulate space is the most important concept in regard to warp speed i.e. contracting space in front of the spaceship and expanding it at the back, it won’t violate the cosmic speed limit as the space craft is not moving over the light speed but space time itself moving around the space craft .The other concepts like jump drive or hyper drive seems way too fictional where as though warp drive seems fictional but it has potential as we now understand space time and its workings in good way. Once we figure out this method of propulsion then we can begin our quest in the expanding universe.

How far will we reach?

If the warp drive can accelerate our space craft up to:
  • 10 times the speed of light: It would take just 72 seconds to get to MARS. Oort clouds the beginning edge of our solar system in 72 days. Alpha Centauri (Proxima Centauri) at 83 more days.

  • 1000 times the speed of light: Kepler 442B and 452B (The life potential distant exo planets), now to mention these planets are very far away approx. 1200 light years away so in order not to spend 120 years in space we have to go at 1000 times the light speed which will take only 437 days to reach there.

So now you might have an idea that even at surpassing the speed of light we have to spend years of travelling across space.
  • light year speed per hour: The universe is big, even warp drive cannot help us to go beyond our own expanding universe (200 thousand light years across). At this speed it will take 23 years to reach the edge of our universe.

All these hypothetical speed will require a lot of energy. We can look upon antimatter engines (my previous blog space adventure into reality).
The universe is very large and still expanding; our speed is very slow approx 90 million times slower to the above hypothetical speed. So in order to be intergalactic civilization (my previous blog) we have to go increase our speed.

My next blog will reveal a journey... u can never imagine.
