Space adventures into reality....
WHAT IS INTERSTELLAR TRAVEL?
Interstellar movie spaceship |
Speaking of such words gives me and of course everyone status of being genius, cool and smart.
Well
as
the movie “Interstellar”itself
reveals
that interstellar space travel(big,interesting
words
from dictionary)
means
travelling in space between stars
or
planetary
system.
We
humans have amazing abilities to build stuffs that might change the perspective of what we are now.In this blog we are going to understand it.So,put on your virtual spacesuit and enjoy the journey while I take you in the adventure of interstellar travel and how we are going to do it.....
If one asks for a quick answer then yes it is possible.
If one asks for a quick answer then yes it is possible.
Antimatter.. the answer......
Antimatter
found its way into the popular imagination soon after its discovery
in the early 1930s. "Star Trek" fans know antimatter
as the high-energy fuel of the Enterprise, the stuff that sends the
starship faster than the speed of light. Now if we see then yes it is
possible not at light speed but a speed that will help as travel
around at super high speed.
In
simple words when electrons and positrons (positive electron). gets combined they produce
a huge amount of energy(Gamma
rays) that can be directed to a direction to produce thrust.
Positrons are actually difficult to direct so we use few methods the
to convert it.A continuous emission of positrons by radio isotopes are
concentrated in an area where it gets combined with electrons and
produces energy(gamma rays).
After that, the gamma rays are used for charging particles that tends to go in a specific direction when magnetic field is applied.
Thus, used as thrust.
In
next few years we
being able to harness and apply this tech, reaching long distances
will be be possible.Travelling
is not only the problem, our body
not tends to support such
extreme speeds, so if we consider that
we have
developed
a biological suit and advance srarship for us and travelling
at
1Gacceleration/sec i.e. 9.8m/s that our
squishy
body
can
handle we will be able reach dream distances and more.
Lets
consider that 1G acceleration/sec in a starship:-
NASA took 10 yrs to reach Pluto while our 1Gstarship will take only 3.5weeks.
Earth
to Alpha
Centauri
If we go 4.5 light years+1Gstarship acceleration(85%of
light speed due to continuous acceleration)it would take 5years on spaceship while
9years will have passed on Earth. As
we reach closer
to
light
speed
Theory
of relativity
(most
famous theory)kicks
in making time
dilation.(slowing
the time in starship).Due
to wonders
and complexity
time dilation we can travel astronomical distances within human
lifespan.
Earth
to Edge
of Universe
Now
let’s take it to more serious extent, yes you guessed it right the
edge of universe, light
speed will
take
13.5
billion years
butdue to our continuous acceleration we are at 99% of light speed so 1Gstarship
will
take
30years
in
the ship
while
13.5 billion years will have passed
on Earth,all
human extinct or may be our Solar
System.
Now
you are
probably
wondering
that, MAN!
THAT’S AMAZING..
then
its true you are thinking in right direction. We humans are so
unpredictable our innovations, ideas and knowledge enables to create
the impossible but as we see in
time dilation
the
earth is vulnerable to time as if we send probes
for
research we won’t receive anything back from them because till the
time when
the
messages reaches us we will be long
gone.Sending
people will have to
face a
great consequences.

The
day is not far when one of us will say as“Captain
Kirk
said,
Mr.Sulu
take us
to a new place where no one has
ever gone”.
The journey of space adventures in
our own“Enterprise” (Star
trek ship)awaits
to
explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilisations, to boldly where no one has gone before.
